Stay with your Pet

The human-animal bond is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why our hospital was designed with an open, transparent treatment area. You can stay close to your pet throughout their care and see how our team works together in real time.

Although we’re an emergency hospital, the space feels warm and welcoming for you and your pet. When more privacy is needed, whether for a sensitive procedure or an important conversation, there are also calm, comfortable rooms away from the busy floor.

Compassionate Emergency Care

In many ways, pets are like people. You can’t predict when they’ll experience an injury or a medical crisis. Our modern hospital is open 24/7, ready and equipped to provide high-quality urgent and emergency care whenever you need it. We know these moments are extremely emotional and stressful. That’s why our team supports animals and their humans with skill, empathy and clear communication.

Our unique open-plan design allows you to stay close and comfort your pet for much of their stay, while our triage system means they will get the attention they need as soon as possible.

Talk to a Nurse

Are you wondering whether your pet needs emergency care? Our experienced nurses provide immediate, personalised guidance to help you decide whether a visit is necessary, or if the situation can wait until your regular vet is available.

If something doesn’t feel right, it doesn’t hurt to ask. We want you to have the clarity, reassurance and advice you need to make the best decision for your pet, and a quick chat with one of our nurses could be all it takes to save time, stress and even avoidable costs.

The personal and caring approach of the Nexus team was exceptional. Thanks so much for the time you all took to care for Loki. When the patient is a nervous, sick (not so little) dog, the approach needs to be just right. Nexus team - you nailed it and we are so, so thankful.

The team at nexus are truly incredible! My dog sunny ate an entire block of dark chocolate and was in bad shape. When we arrived we were attended to immediately, The nurses and vets showed so much love and incredible patience with sunny and her difficult wriggles and neediness during her stay. If we weren’t there with sunny, we received updates every couple hours on how she was going and the next steps. The entire process was incredibly overwhelming but everyone we interacted with was so supportive and reassuring. I truly couldn’t praise the incredible people behind this place enough! Me and sunny are forever grateful 🫶🏼

Had to rush my poor cat Sky here after she’d been attacked, around 9PM on a Friday night. I was seen straight away. They were very thorough when treating her. Due to her age it was best to go down the euthanasia path :~( they provided a very lovely service even through such a sad time. I would recommend Nexus to anyone.

The absolute gold standard in emergency pet care. Don’t even consider another emergency vet, head straight here! Nexus is truly in a league of its own. Unlike other clinics that take your unwell pet behind closed doors, Nexus allowed me to stay right next to my young dog through every single exam and treatment. Just like a young child, our fur babies need their family beside them when they’re sick and scared, and Nexus genuinely understands that bond. They welcomed our family to visit or call at any hour of the day or night (even giving us the option to stay overnight) so Apollo always knew we were right there for him. The entire team are so compassionate, skilled, and reassuring that we felt completely at ease trusting them with his care. We couldn’t be more grateful for their empathy, dedication, and for nursing Apollo back to health!

I cannot speak highly enough of the incredible team at Nexus Emergency Vet Hospital. From the moment we arrived, the level of care, compassion and professionalism was absolutely outstanding. Every member of the team was so kind and reassuring, and it was very clear just how genuinely they care about the animals they are treating. They took the time to explain everything, kept us informed and treated our pet with such incredible care and attention. Having a very unwell pet is incredibly stressful, but knowing they were in the hands of such a dedicated, knowledgeable and compassionate team made such a difference. The service and care we received was exceptional. We are so incredibly grateful to the entire Nexus team and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing emergency veterinary care. An amazing team of people who truly care about the pets and families they look after. ❤️🐾

I couldn't recommend this place enough! While driving from Melbourne to Perth to move with my senior cat, and he was so stressed that he just wouldn't use the bathroom. We jumped on the online chat and were told to bring him straight in. From the moment we arrived, Fiona and Jaclyn made us feel so cared for. They were kind, reassuring and took the time to give us genuine advice. You can really tell they care about you and your pet. We came back later for a follow-up with another nurse and vet, and they were just as lovely. Everyone we met was so compassionate, and the clinic itself was clean and welcoming. Based on their advice, we've decided to head back to Melbourne to reassess things, and I'm so glad we came here when we did. Thank you so much for your kindness and care - even at 3 am!

The vets were fantastic, they took great care of my injured bunny and communicated with me about his recovery and progress. I would highly recommend this clinic. Especially to people who have bunnies, as many other clinics refused to give emergency care to mine and it was devastating! Nexus care is equal to all pets and this is the type of service every pet owner needs.

I cannot thank the team at Nexus Emergency Vet Hospital enough for the kindness and compassion they showed us when our beloved bird, Cherry, passed away at home while I was on holiday. They kept her safe until I returned, which gave my family the chance to see her and say goodbye properly. The staff were so gentle, understanding and caring during this time. They even sent a handwritten card to our home afterwards, which was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture. Thank you so much for helping us through such difficult times.

I wanted to leave this review because there is not much more I can do to properly express how grateful I am. Dr Alicia was absolutely incredible. You do not always come across people like her, especially when you are frightened, overwhelmed and trying to get help for your dog. She went out of her way to help me, organise a referral and get Bohdicca into the Austin for a CT scan, with no gain. The kindness, care and standard of treatment were honestly exceptional. Everyone there was so kind. I also want to thank Zara, and the lovely liaison staff member who listened to me ramble while I was completely overwhelmed and distressed. Nobody made me feel like I was too much. They listened, helped me and treated both me and Bodhdicca with genuine compassion. I wish there were more I could do to thank you all. The next time I need emergency veterinary help, I will absolutely come back here without a second thought 💓
